LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS SPEAK UP FOR BRIAN BLAIR

August 19th, 2010 No comments

Tampa, FL (August 18, 2010) – 2010 Florida House of Representatives for District 47 candidate and proven conservative, Brian Blair, receives an endorsement from prominent local Tampa Bay small business owners Ronald L. McDonald and Wayne Valenti.

Blair’s stance on jobs and small businesses has never faltered. Blair wants to create quality, good paying jobs for the Tampa Bay community; which starts with small businesses.

These small businessmen know and trust that when Blair gets elected (with your help) to the Florida House of Representatives, he will have their best interest in mind, not just carrying on what his party wants; Blair will bring “real” change to Florida.

Enough Is Enough!

Brian Blair understands what the small business people in Florida need. He has risked his own money to build a business, he’s faced the pressures of meeting a payroll and he understands that small business is the engine that runs the economy.

I know Brian, I respect Brian and I know Brian’s heart and it is good. I support Brian because I KNOW he will have our needs and interests guide him and not just some blind party politics. I support Brian because I KNOW he is not using this office as just a stepping stone to advance his political ambitions as others trying for office seem to be doing.

I am sure that all the people running for office are good people, who care about what happens to those of us within the district, but I don’t know them personally. But none of them has shown me any of the depth of understanding of our problems that Brian has.

Elect the “right” person, elect Brian Blair.

Without Politicians Who Understand My Business We Can’t Survive

I have operated my business, The Tampa Picture Show, on Dale Mabry for over 28 years and now face the prospect of having to close it down because of the poor economy and the poor decisions being made locally, statewide and nationally by politicians who never in their lives built or owned a business.

These political employees feel they can decide what is best for us in the business community. They don’t create jobs, we do. They don’t meet payrolls, we do. They don’t invest their own money, we do. And they don’t really care if that extra fee or tax increase will hurt our business, WE DO. You know who else cares? Brian Blair. I know Brian never has and never will raise a tax rate or fee.

The politicians don’t have to worry about “Their” employees, those are all civil servants who survive on the sweat of those of us who gamble our savings to build business to pay the taxes that pay their salaries and benefits. All the politicians have to do is raise Taxes, our taxes to pay for themselves.

We need Brian in a position to act as our voice in Tallahassee.

As a businessman I support Brian and ask you to please vote for Brian so that I can have a Champion who understands a small businesspersons needs.

Wayne Valenti is the owner of The Tampa Pitcher Show, a small business with a 28 year history of servicing the Carrollwood neighborhood with family friendly entertainment. He has been active in numerous charities and non-profits.

“I am speechless. I humbly and sincerely thank you again for your wisdom, insight and motivation to serve the people. You have just re-energized me with your words!” says Brian Blair.

ESLICK WINS AMA VANCE & HINES XR1200 SERIES RACE AT VIR

Travis Wyman Scores First AMA Pro Podium Finish

Milwaukee (August 16, 2010) – RMR/Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing rider Danny Eslick made it three wins in a row with a commanding victory in the AMA Pro Racing Vance & Hines XR1200 Series at VIRginia International Raceway August 15, capitalizing on errors from his main rivals and continuing his domination of the class.

Eslick and RMR/Rossmeyer teammate Jake Holden challenged each other for the lead through the opening few laps of the race, with Holden making several trips off into the grass at the exit of turn one, some forced and some unforced.

“I couldn’t really get on the brakes that well into one and just kept going off the track. I was getting pissed off with myself,” Holden said after the race.

Quickly regrouping from his first trip into the grass to maintain pressure on Eslick, Holden later went off the track in nearly the same spot, this time ceding second place to Harv’s Harley-Davidson’s Travis Wyman, who held onto the spot to claim his first AMA Pro racing podium finish. It was a strong weekend for Wyman, who also finished fourth and sixth in the weekend’s Supersport class races.

Eslick took the blame for at least one of Holden’s off track excursions. “The first time I missed a gear, ran wide, and pretty much ran Jake off the track, so I’ll take credit for that one, the second time he was on his own,” Eslick said. “Then Travis was up there and I got going and put my head back down and he hung in there. I was still riding hard to the end.”

After third place starter RMR/Rossmeyer’s Kyle Wyman exited the race on the second lap with a crash between turns one and two, the battle for what was then third position waged between younger brother Travis and Doc’s Harley-Davidson’s Eric Stump, who swapped position back and forth as Stump worked the draft and made several late-braking moves on Wyman into turn one before suffering a dramatic crash in the downhill turn 7 on lap 11.

“I thought Stump was going to be there for most of the race because he kept passing me going into one,” Wyman said. “At the end Danny was messing around backing it in left and right and spraying dirt in my face all through the esses. I think he was doing it on purpose because he kept looking back at me. Eighteen laps on these seems like a long time but it was a lot of fun.”

Farther back, RMR/Rossmeyer’s Joseph Rozynski finished fourth followed by James Gang/Hoban Brothers/H-D of Appleton’s Paul James in fifth, and Matthew Heidel in sixth. Cycle World’s Mark Cernicky crashed out of fifth place on the HOG Racing entry to finish eighth.

The Vance & Hines XR1200 series returns for the fourth of five rounds at New Jersey Motorsports Park over Labor Day weekend, September 4-5.

NEW PLAN ADDS 40,000 ACRES FOR OFF-HIGHWAY RIDING AT GLAMIS

August 19th, 2010 No comments

One of the country’s most popular off-highway vehicle (OHV) riding areas could soon see nearly 40,000 acres returned to the OHV ledger, thanks to a new plan developed by the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
“This is great news,” said Nick Haris, AMA western states representative. “The groups that want to restrict off-highway riding have gone to court in the past claiming that the Peirson’s milk-vetch growing at Glamis is endangered and needs protection, but the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California recently ruled that the plant is being protected appropriately.”
In April, the BLM released a draft Recreation Area Management Plan (RAMP) for the 200,000-acre Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, popularly known as Glamis because of its proximity to that town in the far southeast corner of California.
The Imperial Sand Dunes area ranks as one of the most important public recreation areas nationwide, attracting more than 1.2 million visitors each year. OHV riders, through their purchases of food, fuel and lodging, contribute significantly to the local economy.
The public comment period for the RAMP ended June 23. Federal officials are now reviewing the comments, and the “Preferred Alternative”—that is, the plan that the BLM intends to follow that adds about 40,000 more acres for off-highway riding—is likely to be adopted unless the public-comment process points out a legitimate flaw in the BLM’s planning.
Under the Preferred Alternative of the new RAMP, 179,622 acres would be open to OHVs.
“A lot of credit goes to the BLM for its work to create a good recreational plan for the area, and to the various local groups who have fought the anti-access forces over the years,” Haris said.
Those groups include the AMA’s District 37 (Southern California), the Off-Road Business Association, the American Sand Association, the San Diego Off-Road Coalition and others that have fought back in court and organized users to submit comments to the BLM in favor of keeping the dunes open to OHVs.
Regulations and legal challenges have shut down major portions of the dunes that were specifically set aside for motorized recreation, including about 49,000 acres in recent years, leaving just 140,740 acres available for OHV riding.
The RAMP Preferred Alternative designates 11,670 acres as critical habitat closed to OHV recreation to protect the Peirson’s milk-vetch, which is a silvery, short-lived plant that can grow to 2.5 feet tall and produces small purple flowers, generally in March or April.
The federal court ruled the BLM critical habitat designation is large enough to adequately protect the plant.
“Under the terms of the California Desert Conservation Area Plan, which has been in effect for decades, open motorized recreation was restricted to less than 2 percent of the California desert,” Haris said. “And since then, opponents of motorized recreation have continued to whittle away at the riding areas that remained, forcing more OHV users onto smaller areas of land.
“This action by the BLM restores some of this vitally important recreational land, preserving responsible riding opportunities for the growing Southern California population,” he said.
It’s unknown when the new BLM plan will go into effect.
