Erik Buell’s Farewell Address

For the average sport bike fan the Buell motorcycle never really comes up in conversation. But for some freethinkers who ride to the beat of a different piston the news that Buell will not produce any more sport bikes is disheartening. The news to discontinue the Buell Blast is not a problem, but now the whole company? To paraphrase Erik Buell, the Blast was not meant to be a sport bike its purpose was to offer a rideable motorcycle to new motorcycle enthusiasts. As for the rest of the Buell sport bike line they do what a sport bike should do … handle well. Like Buell motorcycles or not—Erik Buell and his team of engineers gave the world the chance to see what “thinking outside the box” means with their Buell sport bike line, and for that we say thank you Erik Buell.
