ROSSMEYER DIES IN MOTORCYCLE CRASH
Bruce Rossmeyer, the world’s largest Harley-Davidson dealer, was killed in a motorcycle accident July 30, 2009 while was on his way to Sturgis, SD for the 69th Anniversary Sturgis Rally with family and friends from the Hamsters MC.
Known for his business savvy, Mr. Rossmeyer fashioned an empire of 13 Harley-Davidson dealerships—with Destination Daytona listed as the World’s Largest Harley-Davidson dealership. Also known for his charitable contributions in the community, we at Born To Ride remember Mr. Rossmeyer for his dedication to the children at Camp Boggy Creek.
I’ll always remember how kind Bruce Rossmeyer was to us at Born To Ride when he helped promote the Boggy Creek ride. He was a big man with a big heart. I remember he would match whatever was raised at the charity event. If all the riders raised $50,000 –including the auction, he would match it with his $50,000. If $100,000 was raised he would match that. He was the man who hooked BTR up with the Teutul’s from American Chopper (including Mikey) and Aerosmith legend Steven Tyler. The man changed Daytona and Bike Week at the same time—forever.
He was a true visionary who put back into his community and employed many around the country, as well as locally. I’ll always remember the twinkle in his eye when he was around the children he was helping. What a giving and dynamic man, who will be missed by many. Our heartfelt sorrow goes out to his family and friends who loved him and will miss him very much I’m sure.
