One of the cool things I did this summer was go to Sturgis South Dakota. For the 58th annual Black Hills Classic. It is the oldest Biker Rally in the world. (1 year older than Daytona Bike Week)

Because of time constraints we shipped our bikes, round trip, to Sturgis with Wayne & John from Chrome Express, a motorcycle transport company.

My wife Deb and I Flew into Wyoming and then drove to Spearfish Canyon Resort, that's where we stayed, and where we picked up our bikes and meet our Guides Wayne & John. The Resort was 15 miles into the most beautiful canyon. The road followed a mountain stream with some really nice waterfalls. It was a lot of fun riding in and out of the Canyon the road was nothing but twisties!

The weather was pretty bad for the first half of the event, it rained on Sat., Sun., Mon. and part of Tues. Deb and I got there on Wed. afternoon and missed all the bad weather!

After we checked in the first thing we did was head out for Sturgis, About 35 miles from the resort, All I can say is WOW what a crowd! It is hard to believe how many bikers can fit into such a small town. The regular population of Sturgis is about 5,500 People. During this event that number swells to about 250,000!

All up and down Main Street you can find a large variety of vendors just like in Daytona. There are also a couple of Famous Bars & eateries on Main Street. One of them is the Road Kill Cafe. A very interesting Menu! Raccoon stew, Squashed deer, Front grille surprise, Tire tread Snake Pot pie, just to name a few. The most Famous Saloon in Sturgis is the Broken Spoke, it's actually not on Main Street, but one block over.

It was great cruising up and down Main Street with Wayne, (He rides A V-8 powered Boss Hoss), Every where we went he drew a pretty big crowd! Lots of people would ask to take pictures along side his Bike. It was a great way to get to meet people.

Main Street was great but the most fun we had was going on long day trips around the Black Hills Of South Dakota and Into Wyoming. We visited Devils Tower, remember it from Movie Close Encounters, it was even more spectacular in person. We went gambling in The famous town of Deadwood, that's where Wild Bill Hitchcock meet his fate. We visited the town of Lead built around one of the largest Gold Mines still in operation in the U.S.

The Gold mines, the mountains, canyon, streams & lakes the wild life, Buffalo, Deer, Elk And the many Eagles left us all breathless, But nothing could top the Awe we felt while we visited the two most famous Man made landmarks of the region. Mount Rushmore and the amazing Crazy Horse!

While I was in the Sturgis Area I did a lot of Video taping for the Born To Ride TV show. Keep an Eye out for the Show I'll be using a lot of the footage I shot for small stories and as background for some Killer Music, and when the shows credits run.

We had so much fun that we are going to go again next year. We would like to take a group with us if you are interested please contact us via e-mail at RGalletti@aol.com
